What is a luxury crewed yacht charter? +
A luxury crewed yacht charter offers an exclusive and opulent vacation on the water, allowing guests to be pampered by a dedicated crew while exploring breathtaking destinations. Unlike traditional vacations, guests enjoy personalized service, a flexible itinerary, and the privacy of a private yacht. The cost can be comparable to a luxury land-based vacation but offers the added advantage of traveling to multiple stunning locations.
What is included in a luxury crewed yacht charter? +
A luxury crewed yacht charter typically includes the yacht itself along with a professional crew dedicated to providing exceptional service. However, additional costs apply:
Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA): This is a pre-paid expense account covering fuel, food, drinks, docking fees, and other onboard expenses. The APA is usually 40% of the charter fee for motor yachts and 20-30% for sailing yachts and catamarans.
VAT (Value Added Tax): This varies by location and the yacht’s registration and is applied based on the country where the charter takes place.
Crew Gratuity: this is at client’s discretion and usually 10-15% of the charter fee.
Additional Inclusions: Some yachts may offer all-inclusive options, covering meals, drinks, and water toys. Specific inclusions depend on the yacht and destination, so it’s important to review the charter agreement in advance.
What are the roles of the crew members onboard? +
The crew is essential to ensuring a seamless and luxurious yacht charter experience. Crew size depends on the yacht’s size, but a standard crew typically includes:
Captain – Responsible for safety, navigation, and yacht operations. He also serves as a local expert, guiding you to the best islands, ports, and dining spots.
Chef – Prepares customized gourmet meals tailored to your dietary preferences.
Steward/Stewardess – Handles guest services, housekeeping, and interior maintenance, ensuring comfort and luxury.
Deckhand – Assists with yacht operations, exterior maintenance, and water sports while also managing mooring and tender driving.
Larger yachts may also include:
First Mate/Engineer – Oversees technical operations and assists the captain.
Additional Stewards/Deckhands – Provide enhanced service and ensure the yacht remains pristine.
With a dedicated crew, your yacht charter delivers unparalleled luxury, service, and adventure.
Can the crew accommodate special requests, such as dietary preferences? +
Absolutely! One of the key benefits of a luxury yacht charter is the ability to personalize every detail of your trip. The crew and private chef will tailor menus to accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, or special culinary preferences, ensuring a customized dining experience. Whether you prefer vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, or gourmet tasting menus, your preferences will be met with exceptional service.
Can I bring my own chef, crew or staff? +
Yes, you can bring your personal chef, assistant, or staff, but keep in mind that guest accommodations will be required, as crew quarters are typically at capacity. This means one or more guest staterooms must be designated for your staff. Before booking, we recommend discussing your specific needs to ensure your yacht can accommodate additional personnel comfortably.
What is the tipping policy for yacht crew? +
Tipping is customary in the yacht charter industry and reflects the level of service provided. We recommend 10-15% of the charter fee, given to the captain, who will fairly distribute it among the crew members. If a specific crew member has provided extra services, such as childcare or additional personal assistance, you may choose to offer them an additional tip as a gesture of appreciation.
